The design of this shirt, titled “Dead Men Don’t Rape,” is deeply influenced by the song of the same name by Delilah Bon. The song carries a message against sexual violence, emphasizing a solid feminist stance that advocates for women standing up against their oppressors and seeking justice. 

Design Analysis:

The image on the shirt depicts Aileen Wuornosm, known for her tragic life and criminal history. Wuornos was executed in 2002 for killing seven men between 1989 and 1990, a series of acts that she claimed were in self-defense against assault. 

Her story has been sensationalized in films, documentaries, and pop culture, often highlighting her troubled childhood and her struggles with abuse, poverty, and marginalization. The portrayal of Wuornos in this design represents the complex and usually ignored stories of women driven to extremes by their circumstances. 

Overall Message:

The shirt makes a strong statement about gender equality and justice, questioning the fairness of Wuornos’s treatment by the judicial system and how societal injustices towards women can drive them to desperation.
